ACACIA RESEARCH CENTER
Breaking barriers and discovering the most effective treatments for mental illness.
Acacia Research Center results are inspiring, life-changing, and a reminder that the pursuit of better mental health care should never be stagnant. There is so much to discover; we have a lot of work to do.
What we do
In-House Research
The Acacia Research Center (ARC) is dedicated to advancing neuroscience and revolutionizing neuromodulation treatment. Our in-house research team analyzes real-world treatment outcomes data to fully understand the efficacy of novel TMS approaches. These findings help inform and guide decision-making, enabling continuous optimization of personalized treatment protocols
Sponsors & Partnerships
At ARC, we collaborate with industry and academic partners to conduct pioneering clinical trials. We provide comprehensive services, including project management and FDA-level inspection support. Partnering with us saves sponsors valuable time due to our well-equipped infrastructure and certified staff ensuring strict regulatory compliance and participant safety.
Publishing Research
Acacia team members have a strong track record of publishing in the fields of neuropsychiatry, brain imaging, and neuromodulation. We've disseminated our research through peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and presentations at international conferences, contributing to the advancement of healthcare knowledge and the improvement of patient care.
CURRENT RESEARCH STUDIES
Have you been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or OCD?
You may be eligible to receive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at no cost.
Acacia Clinics is conducting a clinical trial in collaboration with Harvard University and the Brigham and Women's Hospital to see if symptoms of depression, anxiety, and OCD can selectively be improved by stimulating specific areas of the brain.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
This study may be an option for:
Adults between the ages of 18-65 years
Those diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Schizophrenia*
*Participation for those with schizophrenia would take place at the Boston site and may have additional study visit days and compensation.
There are other requirements for participation in the study. The study doctor will explain these to you.
CURRENT RESEARCH STUDIES
Recruiting Participants with Major Depressive Disorder for a Paid Observational Biomarker Study
Are you starting TMS or Spravato treatment at Acacia Clinics? You may be eligible to participate in our research study.
Kernel is conducting a study at Acacia Clinics with a revolutionary technology that can non-invasively measure brain activity in real time. Patients who are starting TMS or SPRAVATO® (esketamine) for depression at Acacia may be eligible for this study and receive a summary of their brain results.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
This study may be an option for adults who are:
18-65 years of age
Fluent in English
Primary diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder
Are scheduled to receive TMS or Spravato treatment
CURRENT RESEARCH STUDIES
Are you interested in Accelerated TMS at Acacia?
We are conducting a research study, sponsored by Biomedical Discoveries and Neuroscientific Foundations (BDNF), to evaluate causal factors that affect accelerated TMS efficacy.
We will study factors including treatment parameters, individual characteristics such as symptom profile and treatment history, subjective changes in mood, and medication use.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
This study may be a good fit for individuals who meet the following criteria:
Are 12 years of age or older
Have been prescribed accelerated TMS by their doctor for treatment of a qualifying condition (e.g., Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, Insomnia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, or Parkinson’s Disease)
Are able to communicate in English
Are able to complete follow-up questionnaires
CURRENT RESEARCH STUDIES
Join a Research Study Tracking Brain Activity During Depression Treatment
Image provided by Ceribell, Inc.
Are you currently receiving treatment for depression? You may qualify for a research study about how the brain responds to treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).
Acacia Clinics is conducting a research study using an investigational non-invasive electroencephalogram (EEG) headset that records brain activity during SPRAVATO or TMS treatment. This will help researchers explore how changes in brain activity relate to treatment response.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
This study may be an option for adults who are:
Adults aged 18+ (up to 75 for SPRAVATO)
Primary diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
Starting TMS or SPRAVATO at Acacia Clinics
Willing to complete brief surveys and EEG sessions
Able to provide informed consent and communicate in English
RESEARCH TEAM
Acacia’s research leadership team is at the forefront of TMS and neuroscientific research, leading and co-authoring dozens of renowned research publications.
